Draft Saving Gateway Bill

The Treasury has outlined plans to introduce the Savings Gateway Bill. The Bill will provide a financial incentive to saving among the poorest in society. The legislation will offer a national cash saving scheme for those on lower incomes, providing a financial incentive to save through matching

The scheme will be open to individuals in receipt of qualifying benefits and tax credits.

The Treasury consultation closed on June 4 2008.
