Draft Police and Crime Reduction Bill

The Home Office has outlined plans to bring forward regulation thatwill give reduce bureaucracy and increase accountability in the policeforce and help reduce crime further.

The Bill intends to implement reforms set out in the policing GreenPaper due to be published in May. The government will also consult onimplementing the recommendations of Sir Clive Booth’s review. Theseinclude providing a public voice in decision making through theelection of directly elected representatives and reducing bureaucracyin the police service.
