Draft Geneva Conventions and United Nations Personnel Bill

This Bill fulfils the commitment to provide protection for the newhumanitarian symbol (a red crystal) and to extend legislativeprotection to United Nations and associated personnel. Sponsored by theForeign and Commonwealth Office, the legislation amends the definitionof “UN worker” in the United Nations Personnel Act 1997 to coveradditional categories of operations. It also provides the newhumanitarian symbol the same protection under criminal law as the RedCross and Red Crescent.
