Draft Equality Bill
The Bill seeks to make public bodies more transparent and make Britain fairer through a singleequality duty, which will require public bodies to consider the diverseneeds and requirements of their workforce, and the communities theyserve, when developing employment policies and when planning services.
It also aims to extend existing positive action measures to encourage employers to make their organisation or business more representative and reflective of the people they serve; make public bodies deliver services in a more effective way to disadvantaged groups who may otherwise miss out; and ensure that political parties to use all women election shortlists until 2030
The Bill aims to promote fairness and equality ofopportunity; tackle disadvantage and discrimination; and to moderniseor strengthn our law to make it fit for the challenges that our societyfaces today and in the future.
