The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has set out new rules on building one-off buildings in the countryside.
The new guidance is designed to "give a signal" that modern designs will be favoured over traditional stately homes.
The Telegraph says that the law has been introduced because of "Labour's infatuation with fashion and money".
But planning minister Keith Hill said the government was favouring "cutting-edge designs for country houses".
