On a recent visit to Bexley, the former Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, presented local MP, John Austin with a Certificate of Long Service recognising his 50 years membership of the Labour Party.
The presentation took place at the Party's recent annual dinner where John Prescott was guest speaker. John Prescott paid tribute to Erith & Thamesmead’s MP as one of the hardest working who was recognised across parliament for his commitment and integrity. In particular he paid tribute to John for his work to promote gender equality.
