Dods & Scottish Widows Women in Public Life Awards 2009
The Dods & Scottish Widows Women in Public Life Awards celebrate women leaders in society and seek to recognise and promote the work of women in politics, business, the civil service and community leadership. The Awards which are now in their third year, aim to highlight the achievements of outstanding women role models amongst us.

Parliamentary Researcher of the Year Awards 2009
The Parliamentary Researcher of the Year Awards is now in its third year. These highly prestigious and important Awards, supported by the Federation of Small Businesses, have been developed to promote the extremely valuable role that researchers perform within Parliament.
This year the awards were presented by BBC Radio 4 presenter, Shaun Ley.

Your Parliament Citizenship in association with AQA
On 22nd January 2009 AQA hosted a debate in the House of Commons on the role of citizenship education and its importance to young people and the whole of British society. The debate followed the Your Parliament exhibition organised by Dods and the Parliamentary Education Service in Westminster Hall from June - September 2008.
Janet Holloway, Assistant Director at AQA responsible for Citizenship specifications opened the debate. On the panel were children, schools and famillies committee chair, Barry Sheerman MP, fellow committee member and Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Paul Holmes MP, and Natascha Engel MP, who is chair of the all-party group on youth affairs.

(in association with the British Safety Council)Speaking at the event were Labour MP Parmjit Dhanda, shadow corporate governance spokesman Jonathan Djanogly and Liberal Democrat business, enterprise and regulatory reform spokesman John Thurso. The event was chaired by the chair of the business and enterprise select committee, Peter Luff.
Brian Nimick, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, opened the proceedings by pointing to the fact that improvements to the health and safety system could save the economy £31bn and stressed the need to "rescue the health and safety agenda back from the media".

Lifelong Learning and Skills Symposium in association with the Chartered Insurance Institute - May 2008
Higher Education Minister Bill Rammell MP, shadow skills secretary David Willetts MP and Liberal Democrat higher education spokesman Stephen Williams MP discussed the key findings of the Leitch report and debated with Stakeholders a number of ways to raise skis levels among the UK workforce, while Phil Willis MP sat in the Chair.

Housing and Planning Symposium in association with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - March 2008
Former local government minister Nick Raynsford MP, shadow communities spokesman Jacqui Lait MP and Liberal Democrat housing spokesman Lembit Opik MP. Dr Phyllis Starkey MP chaired the lively debate, which focussed on ways to improve and increase the housing stock.
