Network Rail has its knuckles rapped on safety after poor handling of redundancies

Please find attached a report from the HMRI over Network Rail's handling of hundreds of management redundancies that took place last year following a complain from trade union TSSA.

TSSA has recognition rights for managers at the company and we feel that thuis report vindicates our concerns over the effects on health and safety following the redundancies.

Our reaction is as follows:

John Munday, TSSA negotiations officer said: "This report proves TSSA was right to complain about the arbitrary way Network Rail set about cutting staff numbers.

"It is very worrying that Network Rail soed not seem to understand their safety responsibilities when they are about to undergo the biggest organisational change since privatisation."
