SCOTTISH SHOP PRICE INDEX - MARCH 2007: SHOP PRICES LOWER THAN A YEAR AGO
April 4, 2007 The SRC-Nielsen Shop Price Index (SPI) for March showed that prices in Scotland were 0.99% lower than at the same time a year ago. The fall in prices compared to last year came after heavier discounting in non-food, namely clothing and footwear, where promotional activity was needed to stimulate sales of winter ranges due to unseasonable mild weather. There was also more discounting this year compared to last on furniture and home accessories. |
