Dr Mary Bousted, Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) general secretary, said:
“The Secretary of State should beware the consequences of changing the diploma structure before the first group of students have started the course.
“Constant meddling to establish parity with A levels does not support the currency of the diploma programme.
“Any changes should be part of a comprehensive review of qualifications, currently promised for 2013.”
