Cameron begins China visit

David Cameron is today beginning a visit to Beijing, where he will discuss the economic challenges facing both China and the UK.

The Conservative Party leader is joined on the three-day trip by shadow chancellor George Osborne.

In Beijing they will meet with government members and will visit a school to see an environmental education project. Osborne is also expected to meet with members of the finance industry.

On Thursday they will travel to Chongqing, one of the country's largest cities, where Cameron will speak to university students and visit a power company.

Cameron has previously spoken of the need to "share global leadership" with China and India, which both have rapidly growing populations and economies.

Last year he warned that British foreign policy was too "obsessed" with the European Union and the United States and ignored emerging global powers.
