Tory tops PMBs ballot
Conservative MP Michael Fallon has come out on top of the ballot for introducing private members' bills.
The senior Tory will now have the best chance of introducing backbench legislation in the current session of Parliament.
Second on the list was Labour's Sharon Hodgson, followed by Andrew Miller (Labour), Julian Brazier (Conservative) and John Heppell (Labour), who will all have a reasonable prospect of success if they choose a subject that wins the approval of government whips.
The highest ranking Liberal Democrat was David Howarth in 12th, who had promised to introduce a fixed-term parliaments bill.
Of the top 20, nine slots wants to Labour MPs, eight to Conservatives and two to Lib Dems, with the SNP's Pete Wishart drawn in 16th.
