Welsh Labour pledges NHS redress
Rhodri Morgan

Rhodri Morgan has promised a new system of NHS redress in Wales if Labour is re-elected in May's assembly elections.

The first minister said a "new, made-in-Wales system of responding to patients concerns when things go wrong" would be his first initiative in the new assembly.

The Welsh Labour leader said the move was in response to an "overwhelming message" from consultations with patients and their families.

In the speech in Swansea on Monday night, Morgan outlined his policy priorities for a third term.

He is seeking to keep his minority Labour administration in power in May by appealing to voters to recognise his experience and achievements.

However he also recognised that where problems have occurred in the health service what matters most to patients is that their experience is recognised and lessons learned.
