Constituency profile

Under the Scottish boundary changes the old Western Isles seat has been changed to its Gaelic name of Na h-Eileanan An Iar.

It still remains a smaller than standard seat however due to the islands’ remoteness from the mainland and the fact that they were already governed by a Western Isles Council.

While the Labour MP has a good record of winning elections, the comparatively strong showing of the SNP in recent years means Labour representatives will have to campaign hard to hold off the SNP in the elections.

Results

Due to boundary changes, no previous election results are available for this constituency.
