I hope that this site will help you to understand the work I do as a Labour Member of Parliament for Erith and Thamesmead
I was first elected to Parliament for the Woolwich constituency in 1992 but following boundary changes have represented Erith and Thamesmead since May 1997.
I served as a member of the House of Commons Health Select Committee from 1994 to 2005 and since 2005 have been a member of the UK delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). I serve on the Equal Opportunities Committee of PACE.
My main areas of personal interest are Environment, Equal Opportunities, Foreign Affairs, Health, Mental Health and Social Services
