Sylvia reminds children to be safe and seen on winter roads
Sylvia Heal local MP for Halesowen and Rowley Regis is reminding residents, especially children and parents, about the importance of being safe and seen on the winter roads.
With the return of dark winter nights, children face greater risks on the roads and it’s even more important to remember basic road safety.
Sylvia recommends these top tips for being safe on the winter roads:
• In bad weather make sure drivers can see you by wearing bright or fluorescent clothing.
• Always wear something reflective when out on a dark evening.
• Make sure when you cross the road you always remember to stop, look and listen.
• If you’re out at night, choose routes that are well-lit by streetlights and cross the road in well-lit places.
Sylvia Heal MP said: “I am pleased that once again Nationwide are running their “Cats eyes for kids” campaign which will see every child in year one at Primary school receive a free reflector. Children wearing a reflector are eight times safer than ones without and so they will hopefully make a real difference. It is important to remember to be aware when out on dark nights, the message is “Be Safe, Be Seen”.
