Sylvia backs the Halesowen Hopper
Sylvia Heal MP and local traders have worked together to encourage Centro to launch a shuttle bus providing Halesowen and Rowley Regis residents with a vital lifeline into Halesowen Town Centre.
Sylvia is encouraging local residents to use the service- the Halesowen Hopper. She commented “I am acutely aware that the redevelopment work at Halesowen bus station has caused great concern to local traders and residents, that’s why I decided to discuss this matter with local traders to see how I could help. A major concern was a lack of buses taking residents into the town centre, particularly along the Queensway. I took these concerns to Centro and their partners who agreed to fund a shuttle bus. The Halesowen hopper will initially run for a three month trial- I would encourage local people to stay loyal and shop in Halesowen town centre, put quite simply- use it or loose it”.
Initially launched in October, the service has recently been revised and it now enables more local people to reach local shops and services. From the 12th November the revised circular route will be Pool Road via Birmingham Street, Rumbow, New Road, Stourbridge Road, Hales Road, Church Croft (stand B) and Queensway (Stand J). The service runs Mondays to Saturdays inclusive between 0930 and 1530 hours with a 10 minute frequency.
