Sylvia Heal MP supports NCH’s Growing Strong Campaign
Sylvia Heal MP met with local constituents from NCH Dudley Young Carers and showed her support for leading children’s charity, NCH, at their Parliamentary Reception on Tuesday, March 11th.
The NCH Parliamentary reception was an opportunity for politicians to learn more about the charity and its ‘Growing Strong’ campaign to improve the emotional wellbeing of the UK’s children. Not only was the reception attended by politicians from all parties, but a variety of celebrities were also in attendance including, The Apprentice’s Michelle Dewberry and ‘Dr Who’ actor Peter Davidson. Youngsters supported by NCH’s Pinnacle project in London and Dudley Young Carers, that both work to build confidence and wellbeing, told the crowd about the difference the projects make to their lives.
Sylvia Heal MP said: “NCH’s Growing Strong Campaign sends all of us a strong message; we have to bolster the emotional well being of children today if they are to get the chances in life they deserve tomorrow. I am particularly pleased that NCH continue to support young carer’s projects in Dudley and across the country.”
Claire French, Outreach Project Worker at NCH’s Dudley Young Carers Project says: “The young carers really enjoyed the reception and felt justly proud at being selected for such a prestigious event. Sylvia spent a lot of time with the young carers and I think it’s great that the young people got chance to communicate with a local MP.”
NCH Dudley Young Carers Project supports young carers aged 8-18 years who care for a family member living in their household with a long-term illness, disability or condition associated with alcohol or substance misuse, the young person may provide physical care and or emotional support.
