Sylvia Heal backs Neighbourhood Policing
Sylvia Heal, local MP for Halesowen and Rowley Regis, has today welcomed new Government plans to extend neighbourhood policing and give people a real say and influence over how their streets are policed.
New measures include “A new Name in Every Neighbourhood” campaign to be run by the police to highlight how people can contact their own local team. A new national website has been launched to allow the public to get the names and numbers of their local neighbourhood policing team http://www.neighbourhoodpolicing.co.uk/ and policing teams will also be making house-to-house calls and running street surgeries in community centres and shopping centres.
Sylvia Heal said: “I work closely with local police across Halesowen and Rowley Regis and have been reassured to learn that despite fear of crime being high, crime is actually at its lowest in the West Midlands for nearly a decade. I hope that this extension in neighbourhood policing will help establish a relationship between local residents and the police, address community priorities, build public confidence in policing while making neighbourhoods genuinely safer”.
