Sylvia Heal praises Black Country Urban Park Big Lottery bid
Sylvia Heal MP has welcomed news that “A Million People: The Black Country as an Urban Park” has successfully made it to the final shortlist of the “People’s Millions: Living Landmarks”.
The exciting plans outlined in the bid will see the creation of major landmarks at sites across the Black Country, together with other more local examples of environmental transformation. Widespread regeneration of the Black Country’s canal network and surrounding environment is proposed, including freeing up canal-side access to existing and new parks and green spaces and creating opportunities to design landmark buildings and features to enhance the natural environment and historic landscape.
There will be a programme on each of the finalists and a national vote on ITV. Tune into to learn about the Black Country Urban Park on Thursday 6th December on ITV at 11pm. You can vote using three different methods:
Online: Pre-register and vote at www.thepeoples50million.org.uk
Telephone: Telephone number will be announced on December 7th and voting begins at 9am.
Mobile: A mobile number will be announced on December 7th and voting begins at 9am.
Sylvia Heal MP said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Halesowen and Rowley Regis and Dudley as a whole. £50 million of Lottery funding would kick start a major redevelopment of the Black Country region and would help to environmentally transform the region into an Urban Park. The fact that the bid has come so far is a fantastic achievement and testament, to all the hard work that has gone into the development of the application.
“It is important that we all vote using the different methods and encourage family and friends to do the same.”
