Sandwell GCSE results show it is one of the best improved local authorities in the country
Sylvia Heal has today welcomed new figures that show Sandwell has come 12th out of a 150 local authorities across the country, for improvement in GCSE results over the last year.
The number of students receiving five A*-C GCSE results in Sandwell has risen by 5% to 52% in the last year. For example, Heathfields Foundation Technology College in Rowley Regis, saw an 11% rise in their results with 73% of Heathfields pupils gaining five good GSCEs.
Sylvia Heal MP said: “I am very pleased to learn that Sandwell is one of the top local authorities in the country in its improvement of GCSE results. I want to congratulate all staff and pupils who have worked so hard to achieve these record results.
“I think the figures published this week show real and encouraging improvement. I know we need to build on this progress so that every young person in our area fulfils their potential at school and goes on to further study, gets an apprenticeship or a good job where they can develop their skills.”
