Local MP backs Government’s £1 billion business and innovation strategy
Sylvia Heal MP has today backed a new strategy announced by the Government that will see £1 billion spent over the next three years to boost business innovation and technological development and create a new science and innovation strategy.
The new strategy has come from a review by Lord Sainsbury in which he hailed the significant improvements that have seen innovation improve in recent years but said there is still more to do to create the best possible conditions to stimulate business and the innovation industry.
The recommendations that have been accepted by the government include promoting improvements in the teaching of science, technology and engineering, better support for the early stage high-technology companies and increasing international collaboration. Sylvia Heal MP has particularly welcomed more effective support for small and medium sized enterprises hoping this will benefit firms in Halesowen and Rowley Regis.
Sylvia Heal MP said: “I am pleased that the Government has committed to a new business and innovation strategy. If the UK is to maintain competitiveness in the global economy then it is important that we continue to promote and invest in new technology and scientific breakthroughs.”
