ROSIE TO SPEAK AT STREETREACH EVENT
Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central will be at the Streetreach Annual General Meeting at the Doncaster Little Theatre from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday 19 January. Rosie will give the keynote address.
Rosie says “The Streetreach Project has been very successful in helping vulnerable young people in Doncaster, who are at risk from or involved in sexual exploitation. They have used the Government Strategy on Prostitution in conjunction with local groups to create prevention and exit strategies for those at risk.
“Streetreach is making a significant difference in Doncaster, and I am happy to help draw attention to their work.”
Streetreach marks its 15th anniversary this year.
In the past five years, prostitution has decreased by half in Doncaster, however rising heroine and crack/cocaine use puts many at risk of becoming involved in prostitution to fund their drug habit. Streetreach has a dedicated fast track drug treatment service as well as education and training initiatives. The Streetreach Project and its partner groups are aiming for a zero-tolerance approach towards prostitution.
