Although the next General Election seems a long way off, the process of selecting Labour’s candidates is well under way – and in Doncaster Central’s case already decided.

On Sunday night Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP was reselected as the Labour party’s Doncaster Central parliamentary candidate for the next General Election.

Martyn Vickers, President and Chair of Doncaster Central Constituency Labour party, says

“We consider ourselves very fortunate to have Rosie as our MP and we are delighted that she has been reselected to be our candidate at the next election. Rosie works tirelessly for the people of Doncaster Central and has also done a great deal for the local Labour party, increasing debate about important issues, making sure that the party is in a vibrant state for the future. We know that Rosie is liked and respected throughout Doncaster and we are very proud to have her as our MP.”

Rosie says

“It has been an honour and a privilege to represent the people of Doncaster Central for the last 10 years. I am extremely grateful to the members of Doncaster Central Constituency Labour Party for re-selecting me to fight the next General Election.
I am very proud of what Labour has done to improve the lives of people in my constituency – by increasing employment, investing in public services and helping older people. However, I know that there is still more we need to do to face the difficulties of the future and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue to represent Doncaster people”
