Balby Gets Fruity

Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central, will join in the community ‘Tootie Fruity’ day on Wednesday 31 August at 12.30 p.m. at the NCH Balby Family Resource Centre.

NCH Balby Family Resource Centre and Balby West Tenants & Residents Association have invited Rosie to join in a community fun day “Tootie Fruity.”  Children will have the opportunity to try different food and find out about healthy eating, raising awareness of the need for children to eat a balanced diet which includes 5 pieces of fruit a day.

Rosie said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about health eating through having fun. If we are to tackle issues such as child obesity it is vital that we encourage children to eat more healthily.”

Denise Lane, NCH Project Manager, said:

“Parents and children should come along for some fruity fun with a healthy message – there will be lots for everyone to do.

Fruit is such an important part of a healthy diet – for adults and kids.”

Activities at the Tootie Fruity fun day are based on fruit, such as ‘peel an orange’ competition, fruity bingo, word searches and a bouncy castle, followed by a fruit buffet for everyone to enjoy.

The Resource Centre has been open for seven years providing access to services to families living in the Balby area with children up to 13 years old.  During the school summer holidays the activities programme include fun days, play schemes, themed days and trips.
