ROSIE CONGRATULATES DONCASTER MEMORIES PROJECT

Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central met with Dave Angel, Chairman of Doncaster Soundscape and Sound Archive on Friday 2 November to record an interview for a project documenting memories of Doncaster.

The Doncaster Soundscape and Sound Archive are undertaking a series of projects to document memories of Doncaster using the latest digital technology and media. The memories cover changes over the past few decades both in the town centre and also in the surrounding coal mining villages.  Rosie was invited to give some of her Doncaster memories for the project.

Rosie says
“I was very pleased to have been asked to join in this project, which is looking at how our town has changed. This and other projects undertaken by Doncaster Sound Archive are important in providing a record of Doncaster and its people’s history from the view point of local people who have actually lived through the changes. ”

The final project will be in the form of audio and visual recordings, to be presented free on CD-ROM, DVD and web-based media.

Doncaster Sound Archive records a wide range of sound sources from the local area and is keen to encourage the active participation of members of the local community.
