Rosie marks start of national childcare week

Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central will be at Little Einstein’s Nursery, Beverley Road, Wheatley, Doncaster, DN2 4JW at 1.15 p.m. to take part in a Teddy Bears Picnic to celebrate the nursery’s 1st birthday.  This will be followed by a visit to meet Childminders at Wheatley Children’s Centre at Old School Way, Beckett Road, Doncaster at 2.15 p.m on Friday 8th June.

Rosie together with Cllr. Eva Hughes will be at Little Einstein’s Nursery as part of National Childcare Week for a teddy bears picnic held in celebration of the nursery’s 1st year anniversary.  Cllr. Eva Hughes who officially opened the nursery last year says  “It is good to be back here one year on to be be part of the birthday celebrations.”

Rosie and Eva will then visit the NCH Wheatley Children’s Centre to attend a childminders drop in afternoon, where they will join in a play session.

The Children’s Centre, which works in partnership with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council provides a range of services for families with children under the age of five to help improve the life chances of children in the area and help them to flourish when they start school.  The services provided include early education integrated with childcare, family support and outreach to parents, and child and family health services.

Rosie says “I am delighted to be able to mark the start of National Childcare week by joining children and their families at  the Little Einsteins Nursery teddy bears picnic  and meeting with Childminders at the NCH Children’s Centre.

Children’s Centres, Nurseries and Childminders all play an important role in the delivery of good quality childcare. Good quality child care and support for parents really do help to give children a good start in life.

It is worth remembering that before 1997 there was no entitlement to early education for 3 and 4 year olds. We now have access to early education and we should celebrate the commitment of childcarers and their achievements here in Doncaster in providing this quality child care for the community.”
