Bob Spink
Junior Bowling Green Fees
Cllr Pam Challis
Leader – Castle Point Borough Council
Castle Point Borough Council
Kiln Road, Thundersley
16 April 2007
I enclose herewith copy of an email I received from David Fulcher regarding Bowling Club fees for youngsters.
I believe this may be an oversight on the Council’s part and I trust you will agree and will remedy the situation by reducing the fees charged to youngsters.
We should be doing all we can to make our public facilities available to young people and encourage them to use them. It is important to promote healthy, outdoor activity and to keep youngsters off the streets. It is also important to promote good behaviour and discipline through sport and I hope you agree.
These facilities are held by the Council in trust for the public, which owns the facilities, and I urge you to change the Council’s policy to ensure that young people can have access. I also refer you to the fact that Southend on Sea Borough Council charges approximately half the fee that Castle Point charges.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon possible and may I thank you for considering this matter. In view of the importance of this matter, I am making this correspondence available to the press.
With all good wishes,
Yours ever,
