Stoney Middleton Flooding

West Derbyshire’s MP, Patrick McLoughlin, has visited Stoney Middleton Village, following the recent flooding in Stoney Middleton, after an incident at Glebe Mines.

Mr McLoughlin said “Residents are extremely worried about what the mud and water that built up in their gardens, may contain.  Samples have been taken, and the Environment Agency has told residents that although they have found an elevated metal content in the silt, no other toxic substances have been found.

“However, these are only initial findings, and it is important that full investigations are completed quickly .  Residents, quite rightly, are very worried about the situation, and, for the elderly and those with children, this is a very serious concern.

“I have therefore asked the Environment Agency to treat its investigations with the utmost urgency, and to keep residents fully informed of their findings.
