Norman Lamb
Biography

Norman Lamb has been MP for North Norfolk since June 2001.In the autumn of 2001, he was appointed Liberal Democrat International Development Deputy Spokesman. He has taken an active interest in the humanitarian situation in Zimbabwe, and has spoken out against the controversial deal to sell an air traffic control system to Tanzania. In October 2002, he became part of the Liberal Democrat Treasury Team and now sits on the Treasury Select Committee.

Norman is also an expert in employment law. Prior to his election, he was a partner and Head of the Employment Law Unit at the East Anglian law firm, Steele and Co. He also chaired the Armed Forces Pregnancy Dismissal Unit and is the author of a book on employment law, “Remedies in the Employment Tribunal” (1998).

From 1987 – 1991, he was a Liberal Democrat member of Norwich City Council, and from 1989-1991, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Opposition on the Council. He stood for the North Norfolk seat in 1992 and 1997.

He was educated at Wymondham College, Norfolk, Leicester University and the City of London Polytechnic.

He is married with two sons.
