“There is a strong case for a regional casino in Greenwich, which should be considered on its merits, not prejudiced by hostile media coverage” said Nick Raynsford.
“The Dome is an ideal location for a Super-Casino. It will supplement the 23,000 seat arena currently under construction, to deliver a major tourist and leisure destination in the Thames Gateway. This will help support much needed economic regeneration in an area which suffered disproportionately from unemployment following the loss of the heavy industry on which the area traditionally depended.”
“The Casino will allow substantial new hotel investment, which will help transform the area from a predominately day-trip destination which it is currently. This has huge long-term benefits for the local economy and for London.”
“I hope that when the Panel come to answer the Greenwich bid at tomorrow’s examination in public they will do so scrupulously and impartially, and not be swayed by the media feeding-frenzy which has presented such a negative and distorted view of the Greenwich case.”
