Nick Harvey MP says:

I fully support The Royal British Legion’s recently announced ‘Honour the Covenant’ Campaign for our Armed Forces. This is demanding a just compensation scheme, better healthcare and more support for bereaved Service families.

Lord Guthrie, former Chief of Defence Staff has stated that: “The handling of the medical casualties from both Afghanistan and Iraq is a scandal.”

I am particularly concerned by the support in place for mental health care, as I firmly believe this will be a much greater problem once the psychological impact of Iraq and Afghanistan becomes more evident.

In my role as Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary I will be working closely with the British Legion to help it achieve its goals for both our serving and former service men and women.

I feel everyone agrees that our Armed forces deserve better treatment at the hands of this Government.
