Nick Harvey MP has spent a day on board HMS Albion, one of two Royal Navy amphibious assault ships, yesterday speaking to the Royal Navy personnel on board. Mr Harvey, who was accompanied by Commander in Chief Fleet Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent KCB CBE on the visit said:
“I enjoyed my day on the ship immensely, it was hugely interesting to see the work of our brave men and women on board first hand. The modern technology on board provides an amazing array of capabilities.
“Royal Marines from the 3rd Commando Brigade trained in Devon, some of whom will have experienced life on board this magnificent vessel, have a wonderful piece of kit at their disposal.
“The Albion class has a proud heritage having seen action in most of the major wars since 1812. I have no doubt that this latest incarnation will continue to provide our troops with the capacity to serve our nation with equal valour.”
