Nick Harvey MP got to see the benefits of the Warm Homes Campaign 2007 last Friday, when he visited 84 year old Fremington resident Mrs Marion Betts. Under the Warm Front Scheme she has gained new loft insulation, replacement gas central heating and draughtproofing.

Nick Harvey said: ‘The scheme’s aim is to help 300,000 of the most vulnerable pensioners and other deprived households with their heating. It is therefore always pleasing to see Warm Front in action locally and reassuring to meet one lady who will certainly be kept warm this winter.’

Mrs Betts said: Getting this grant is a relief, my old heating was not very good and when you reach my age keeping warm and saving money are so difficult. I cannot thank enough the National Energy Action Charity and eaga who organised all this.’

Nick Harvey added: ‘Some concern has been raised over the top up rates people are expected to pay, I and my colleagues are looking into this; on the whole though this scheme does seem to be delivering.’
