The idea of the running an amphibious bus service along the Taw is very appealing.

The North Devon Ferry Project is proposing to resurrect the Appledore-Instow ferry, but also with services between Bideford, Braunton, Fremingtion and Barnstaple.

I understand that the type of vehicle being proposed is similar to that of the wartime amphibious DUKW.

Clearly the project’s environmental impact assessment will need to reassure all the relevant authorities and be in accordance with the Taw Estuary Management Plan; however this is a project that could have wider economic benefits for North Devon particularly in terms of tourism.
