Nick Harvey MP says:

‘I was dismayed when I heard that Pilton’s Bryan House, which opened forty years ago, was under threat of closure. My understanding is that it is only one of six such sheltered housing facilities in Barnstaple.

‘Its closure would be a blow to the local community and I have called on the charity Abbeyfield UK, in light of its laudable national track record, to reconsider its’ commitment to North Devon.

‘The good news is that Bryan House is to remain open, at least in the short term, providing there is full occupancy and pending finding of a suitable property in Barnstaple, which would be more cost-effective.

‘There is to be a meeting of all interested parties to discuss future plans and to field questions at Bryan House on Thursday 6 December at 10.30am. This meeting is open to everyone.’
