DARESBURY SCIENCE AND INNOVATION CAMPUS

Minister of State for Science Ian Pearson MP visited Daresbury last week to announce a £25 million investment by St. Modwen in partnership with the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus and the North West Development Agency.

The first phase of this investment will be the opening of Vanguard House which will provide office and laboratory space and create up to 1,200 jobs.

‘This new development is a massive vote of confidence for the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus which is a site of internationally recognised leading edge science and hi tech businesses.

“St. Modwen is a prestigious company. I am delighted that they have decided to invest in the development of Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus.

“Vanguard House will be a very attractive place to set up business. It will be an integral part of the Science and Innovation Campus. Companies will be able to set up and expand knowledge based businesses.

“This investment and new jobs is great news for Halton and the local economy.

“It is also great news for the North West as Daresbury continues to be recognised as an internationally important Science and Innovation Campus.

“We already have over 60 new businesses at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus. This new investment will bring in more high quality companies who want to be part of the increasingly successful internationally recognised campus.

“The Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus has a very bright future. The Government, the North West Development Agency, Liverpool University, Manchester University, Lancaster University, Halton Borough Council, all the companies who are now located at the site and the staff who work there are all committed to building on the success already achieved.

“We now have a great chance to exploit the opportunities now emerging at Daresbury and plan for the long term future of the campus.”
