Mike Hall MP backs plan for new youth services in Weaver Vale

New facilities for young people in Weaver Vale could be built under Government plans to invest in youth services across England.

The Weaver Vale MP today welcomed proposals that will pave the way for long-lasting investment in local youth facilities. He said if the plans were passed by parliament, local communities could bid for funding to improve what’s on offer to young people in the area.

Mike Hall, Labour MP for Weaver Vale    said:

“Young people in Weaver Vale need more things to do and places to go, so I’m delighted that the Government is going to make major investment
  in youth services.

“ I want our area to benefit and over the coming months I will be talking to young people and local community organisations about what facilities they would like to see available in the future. It will be up to them to decide what our area needs and draw up proposals for funding, whether that’s for sports facilities, places to go and participate in activities like dance and drama, mobile youth centres or skate parks.

“Once the plans are passed by Parliament and the scheme is fully up and running we can then be quick off the mark with our bid for funding.

“ The idea is to create a lasting legacy for the community, creating assets to benefit current and future generations and  I’m excited at the chance to help improve what’s on offer to young people in Weaver Vale.”

Funding for new youth services are part of Government plans to reinvest in local communities assets that have been lying dormant in bank and building society accounts for at least 15 years.
