Mike Hall MP, welcomes cheaper fares for 16-18 years olds
Mike Hall, MP for Weaver Vale, has welcomed the scheme to provide discounted bus and rail travel for young people. The scheme, which is now up and running, was set up following an agreement by the 2006 Cheshire UK Youth Parliament team to use Youth Opportunities Fund money to finance the project.
Mike Hall MP said:
“This is a really practical scheme which will benefit 16 –18 year old young people in Cheshire, and I encourage everyone who is eligible to apply. The Young Persons rail card gives a third off most rail fares in Great Britain for one year, travelling from any one of Cheshire’s 47 stations and beyond.
The Bus Travelcard can be used on most bus services in the Chester and Ellesmere Port areas, and gives £50 of free travel.
I hope the scheme will be a success and that in time it can be extended to cover event more areas.”
Numbers of passes are limited so apply without delay!
Application forms can be obtained from the Youth Voice Team, Cheshire County Council, The Hub, Sandbach, CW11 1HR or online from youthvoiceteam@cheshire.gov.uk
