Sustrans Connect2 – Riversdale Footbridge
The Connect2 Project won the ITV1 Big Lottery Fund’s: The People’s £50 million contest. This means we will get the Riversdale Footbridge re-opened.
Mike Hall MP said:-
“I am absolutely delighted that the Connect2 bid won The People’s £50 million contest. This means we will now see the Riversdale Footbridge re-opened.
“This is great news for Northwich. A new iconic swing bridge over the Weaver Navigation will replace the old Riversdale Footbridge. This will re-open the footpath and cycle network across the Weaver Navigation. Local residents will once again be able to walk or cycle to local schools and colleges.
“The new Riversdale Bridge will create a direct, off-road network of paths as an alternative to the busy and congested roads of Northwich. It will once again connect up the footpaths and cycle ways across the town. People will again be able to walk and cycle without having to cross any main roads.
“I congratulate Sustrans, the Weaver Valley Partnership, the local press and everyone else who made this bid a successful project.
“I particularly want to thank everyone who voted in the contest. It was your participation that meant the Connect2 bid won.
“I now look forward to seeing the new Riversdale Bridge being opened. It will be a fantastic new feature in Northwich which we can all be proud of.”
