Mike Hall MP Visits Local Organisation, Independent Advocacy (Central Cheshire)

Independent Advocacy (Central Cheshire) was delighted to welcome Mike Hall MP (for Weaver Vale) when he visited the organisation together with the Big Lottery Fund’s Head of Region (North West Region), Helen Bullough recently.
IA has been awarded £214,933 by the Big Lottery for its Crisis Advocacy Project for five years.
Mike and Helen were shown a presentation of the major success that the new project has achieved during the first three months of operation. They met with staff, volunteers and members of a recently formed Steering Group. The Deputy Mayor of Congleton District, Cllr Colin Burgess and Mayoress Mrs Burgess also attended the event.
Crisis Advocacy supports people with learning disabilities, living in Central Cheshire. The service will provide one to one advocacy support in a range of crisis situations where the person is experiencing change or is at risk of exclusion or harm. The aim is to ensure that the wishes of the person are central to the decision being made and that they are able to exercise their rights and choices as any other citizen.
Lorraine Yearsley, District Manager said, “ It was a really good opportunity to share our success and show what can be achieved if there is financial support for Advocacy work“.
