It has been my privilege to represent the electors of East Hampshire for many years and the most enjoyable part of the job has been meeting my constituents, listening to your views and helping you with your problems.

I am married to Christine and have five children and two step-children. We live just south of Petersfield where I spend many relaxing hours in the garden and, for intellectual relaxation, play bridge as often as I can. My son, James, an ITN news reporter, partners me at the bridge table whenever possible.

My interest in music goes back to my schooldays and I hope that some of you have had the opportunity to enjoy one of my charitable performances recollecting the songs of Michael Flanders and Donald Swan. Together with my partner, William Godfree, we have raised over £100,000 for various charities, including our appearance at the Royal Opera House in 2002.
