BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY APPOINTS SAM MERCER AS DIRECTOR OF WORKPLACE CAMPAIGNS

    21 January 2008

Sam Mercer has been appointed Director of Workplace at Business in the Community (BITC) taking responsibility for engaging businesses on key workplace issues.
Mercer joins from The Employers Forum on Age (EFA) where she was Chief Executive.

Mercer will be responsible for delivering Business in the Community’s workplace campaigns which include: Race for Opportunity, Business Action on Health, Opportunity Now and Business Action on Skills.

    Mercer said:

“It’s a very exciting time to join BITC as we streamline our workplace offering and establish ourselves as the leading authority in this key arena. We need to do much more to ensure business makes the most of its people in order to compete on a global stage. To do that we need to harness the leadership and talent within our member companies to inspire and challenge Government and the wider employer community to do more.

Our objective is to improve the skills and health of UK employees and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute irrespective of their age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation.”
