MP Puts Families And Pensioners Centrestage

Martyn Jones, MP for Clwyd South agrees that families and pensioners are the centre of Labour policy.

With polling day set for May 5th, voters must decide which party will best govern the country.  Mr. Jones and his fellow Labour members have emphasised the success of the economy under a Labour government and have declared that they will continue to put the economy at the centre of policy because it encompasses the interests of Britain’s hard-working families and pensioners.

The success of the economy has improved the lives of Britain’s people by decreasing unemployment, raising levels of investment in the NHS, and cutting levels of crime.

When opposition leader Michael Howard was Home Secretary, unemployment, high inflation, and mortgage issues proved problematic.  It has been revealed that a Tory election victory would implement some £35 billion in cuts, and Labour sees that those cuts would most certainly be taken out of Britain’s top public services:  education, health, and crime.

Commenting on such intentions, Mr. Jones said:

“Tory hesitation to address the economy does not create feelings of comfort and reassurance.  A commitment like that of the Tory’s £35 billion cut only creates fear—fear that everything Labour has done to improve the lives of Britain’s people will be lost.

“A £35 billion cut is not an action that is in the best interest of the economy as it will be Britain’s hard-working families and pensioners who suffer.   The status of the economy is one of the most important factors in Britain because it reflects directly on the lives of families and pensioners—people who should not fear loosing their jobs, homes, or sense of security.”
