Erewash is located in the heart of , and is easily reached by the M1, and by trains from Long Eaton Station running to , Leicester, , Nottingham and . airport is a rapidly growing hub for air travel, and although not in the constituency, it is only a few miles away. This convenient location is good for business and also for tourism, with excellent bus and train services and good roads making it easy to reach the Peak District, and stately homes such as Chatsworth House.

Erewash Partnership, a group comprised of Borough and County Councils, Chamber of Commerce, Business Link, over 200 businesses, community organisations and educational establishments, has promoted business in the area since 1994.
