MP Gets the Hint for ‘Wear It Pink’ Breast Cancer Awareness Day

Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose is getting in the pink for Breast Cancer Campaign’s ‘wear it pink’ day on Friday, October 26.

The MP will wear a pink shirt and tie, with pride, next Friday, as he continues to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

He says: “Every year nearly 44,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer. Like many others, I know people who have been affected by breast cancer. I would like to encourage everyone in our constituency to support ‘wear it pink’ day on October 26 and help raise valuable funds for breast cancer research.

”I’ll be wearing pink – always difficult for men – but, beyond a trusty lilac shirt, I also have an old favourite pink check gingham number and a very nice pink tie too.

“Like prostrate cancer in men, breast cancer in women can be beaten. Awareness, early diagnosis and funding for research is key to a breakthrough.”

John Penrose was at Asda superstore in Weston three weeks ago to support it’s “Tickled Pink” in store campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast Cancer Campaign is asking anyone, anywhere, to support ‘wear it pink’ day on October 26, whether in the office, at home, at school or simply doing the shopping, by wearing an item of pink and donating £2 to Breast Cancer Campaign. For more information call freephone 0800 107 3104; or visit www.wearitpink.co.uk

Donations will allow Breast Cancer Campaign to continue researching a cure and help the one woman in nine in the UK who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

Last year’s ‘wear it pink’ day raised £3 million for breast cancer research and
helped fund more than forty new research projects in the UK. This year, the charity’s fund raising target is £3.5 million.
