CELEBRATE BUT TRAVEL SAFELY SAYS MP –“Leave the car at home”
Erith and Thamesmead MP John Austin has welcomed TfL’s announcement that free travel will be once again be made available through the night on New Years Eve. Tube, DLR and tram services will run all night on New Year's Eve, as well as night buses, 24-hour bus routes and additional through the night services on a small number of routes. Passengers throughout the capital will be able to travel for free on these services during the prime festive hours, for journeys starting between 11.45pm and 4.30am. In addition, the Mayor is funding free travel on selected National Rail services between 1am and 5am, particularly in areas with fewer Tube connections. John Austin said “London is a fantastic place to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Free travel and services through the night on public transport make it much easier to get out and about and safely home. I would urge those residents traveling back from central London to make use of these services" Bexley and Greenwich residents will be able to benefit from: • Jubilee line services to North Greenwich and DLR services to Cutty Sark, Greenwich and Deptford Bridge throughout the night. • Southeastern train services from Charing Cross to Dartford via Greenwich (not stopping at Waterloo East) calling at London Bridge, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill, Westcombe Park, Charlton, Woolwich Dockyard, Woolwich Arsenal, Plumstead, Abbey Wood, Belvedere, Erith and Slade Green half hourly at 11 & 41 minutes past the hour from 00.41 until 04.41. • Southeastern train services from Charing Cross to Dartford via Lewisham & Bexleyheath (not stopping at Waterloo East or St Johns) from Charing Cross to Dartford via Bexleyheath calling at London Bridge, New Cross, Lewisham, Blackheath, Kidbrooke, Eltham, Falconwood, Welling, Bexleyheath and Barnehurst half hourly at 02 & 32 minutes past the hour from 00.32 until 05.02. • Southeastern train services from Charing Cross to Dartford via Lewisham & Sidcup (not stopping at Waterloo East or St Johns) calling at London Bridge, New Cross, Lewisham, Hither Green, Lee, Mottingham, New Eltham, Sidcup, Albany Park, Bexley and Crayford at 00 & 30 minutes past the hour from 00.30 until 04.30. • Through the night services on bus routes N1, N21, N89, 51, 53, 96, 108, 121, 161, 178, 188, 229, 269, 314, 422 & 472. TfL has produced a comprehensive leaflet for passengers, outlining all service changes between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day on the Tube, DLR, London buses, Tramlink and Riverboat services. It also provides an outline of National Rail services within the Greater London area and details of free travel where applicable.
