Local MP, John Austin, joined local residents, and representatives of Bexley Council’s community safety team, Orbit Housing, the police and local councillor David Hurt on Tuesday (19 February) for a walk-about on the Larner Road Estate in Erith.
John Austin, who had organised the event said: “Larner Road is not without its problems, but local residents had been rather concerned about the image of the estate in the media following a recent murder. There have been times in the past when the area had real difficulties but that appears to be behind us.
“Our evidence was of an estate which is well maintained, which does not suffer from major litter or graffiti, has good play and games equipment and low levels of crime and anti-social behaviour and it has a thriving Residents Association.
This view was confirmed by Sergeant Stuart Grist of the Police Safer Neighbourhood Team and ward councillor, David Hurt.
John Austin was also able to discuss Orbit’s future regeneration plans for the area
