AFRICA RYTHMS IN ERITH

Christ Church Hall in Erith reverberated to the sound of African drumming on Saturday night.
The event was an Africa Night organised by Erith & Thamesmead Labour Party.  The chief guest was local Labour MP, John Austin.

Other guests included Len Duvall OBE (Greater London Assembly Member for Greenwich & Lewisham and Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority), Cllr Chris Ball (Leader of Bexley Council’s Labour Group), Howard Dawber (Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Bexleyheath & Crayford) and Kathryn Smith (Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Gravesham).

In addition to African music and dance there was an African buffet.  The event had been organised by African members of the Erith & Thamesmead Labour party including Edward Boateng from Northumberland Heath and Pat Darko-Boadu, Shatu Gaba and Emmanuel Oduwu from Thamesmead.

The event was one of a series of cultural nights organised by the local Party and the second African night.  Previous events have included a Caribbean and Asian Evenings and more are planned.
