Jim Cunningham backs small businesses
A local business has called on Jim Cunningham MP (Coventry South) to raise the profile of small and medium sized businesses.
Jim Cunningham MP said “A small business has highlighted the problems faced by smaller enterprises to get support from local and national Government”.
The non profit business wanted to widen its scope and take on a new direction. To do so it needed to apply to local and national Government for financial assistance. Both Advantage West Midlands and the Learning and Skills Council rejected funding applications as they argued the business was too small to warrant investment.
Jim Cunningham said “Financial Assistance for enterprise should be awarded on merit and not on the size of the company.
“I know that the Government is committed to all business.
“I have written to John Hutton MP, Secretary for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to look at this specific case and to reiterate the Government’s commitment to assisting all business in the UK”.
